"When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly." ~ Patrick Overton
We are coming into the final stretch of my recording, and it has continued to be a challenging and character building experience. On the artistic side of things, I discovered that growth sometimes is uncomfortable as it pushes you towards different goals than what you had before. Learning to adjust requires your focus and creativity. The ability to be in the moment when delivering your music requires much practice; the ability to stay in the moment requires dedication. And getting to that moment every time that I sing; every time that I open my mouth to use this voice that was given to me, is always rewarding and uplifting.
But on the everyday life side of things, it's just that the journey there can be taxing. I often break down, curse and yell, have a good cry and go to sleep just so I can get up again and continue my journey of creating music. The thing is, that is all there is to do. To get up and keep doing the thing that is your passion, your calling. And that, I think, is the living and breathing reality of faith, which is something more than simply telling yourself everything will be ok-it's living your life to the fullest, despite the fact that it might not.
